The timer indicates the amount of time a player is given to decide if they want to call the discarded tile, before the window of opportunity closes. During this period of time, please click the Call or Ignore buttons.
If no action is taken and the timer reaches zero, the next tile from the wall is drawn and the previous discard is no longer available.
Why have an auto-ignore timer? In an in-person game, one player would discard a tile and the next player would pick a tile from the wall and rack it. The auto-ignore timer simulates this very short time period. Without this timer online play would not be realistic, as players would have extended periods of time to make decisions regarding discards.
How do I adjust the auto-ignore timer? The length of the timer is set by the Table Leader before the first game starts (the selector can be found above the Start Game button). Options are 4, 6, 8 and 10 seconds. The timer can also be turned off (select "Off"). Before the game starts, all players can see the length of timer selected. This can be discussed with tablemates and adjustments can be made.
If you need a bit more time to think, you can press the Pause button (next to the countdown).
The auto-ignore timer is available in games with other people, as well as bots games
