We have lots of resources to help players who are newer to American Mah Jongg - and many of these are absolutely free:
  • The fundamentals are reviewed in our Beginner's Guide.
  • A summary of the key concepts/rules can be found on our printable Cheat Sheet
  • Another good resource to learn the basics is Debbie Barnett's Beginner's Series on YouTube
  • Take your game to the next level with our Strategy Guide
  • Check out the Exercise Room, on the Game Launchpad. This is a set of exercises to help practice the basics and learn the card faster (more info can be found here).
  • Another useful tool is our "Practice Mode" (select "Enable Practice Mode" under "Just-for-fun" games with bots, on the Game Launchpad). This mode will give you suggestions on hands to play, help you better track discards and figure out which hands the bots may be working towards. For more information on the Practice Mode, check out this page.
  • If you need help using the I LOVE MAHJ platform, take a look at our how-to videos and feel free to search our Knowledge Base
  • If you’d like to find a local teacher, or learn with an online school in the comfort of your own home, please check out our Teachers Directory
  • If you prefer to learn from books, then we have some great American Mah Jongg book recommendations
  • If you’d like to watch online video tutorials, click here
Finally, don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about the game or our platform. We're always happy to help.
